search & devour: cheddar crisps at bridge

we rarely find ourselves downtown, but we've heard so many good things about bridge | tap house that we made special plans just to pay them a visit.  what we discovered was exactly what we expected: a gorgeous, contemporary space, with a breathtaking wall of taps singing their various siren songs to thirsty downtowners.  what we didn't anticipate?  the miracle pairing of pastry and cheese known as the house made cheddar crisp.  bridge serves the crisps with mixed nuts (no peanuts!), cherry chutney, paper-thin apple slices, and (awesomely seedy) ipa mustard, but it's the crisps that had us fighting over the final bite.  buttery and rich, serving as the perfect compliment to a craft brew, each of these cheddar-caps has a hollowed bottomside, where more often than not can be found a savory pocket of melted cheese.  if we're ever downtown again, we'll make a special trip to bridge for an order of these crisps.  or maybe we'll make it two orders next time.
